WHY DO THE MEISNER TECHNIQUE The Meisner technique stands out from other techniques and methods because first and foremost it is practical.The training involves a specific step by step procedure striped from "psychobabble" and "vague definitions". Meisner technique is a structured technique that cultivates and supports : improvisation,concentration, imagination,instinct and the spontaneous behavior of the actor under any given circumstances.
LARRY SILVERBERG Larry Silverberg is one of the foremost authorities on the Sanford Meisner technique of acting and is author of the internationally-acclaimed, four-volume series the “Sanford Meisner Approach,” widely considered the primary source for training actors at studios worldwide. He is a graduate of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre where he studied with legendary acting teacher, Sanford Meisner. Since then, Larry has worked professionally as an actor and director across the United States and in Canada. His recent production of "The Normal Heart" won two "Best Play of the Year" awards and he won the Seattle Critic's Association "Stellar Acting Award" for his portrayal of "Teach" in the Belltown Theatre Center producdtion of "American Buffalo. He is a founding faculty member of European Act, Europe’s multi-national, professional certificate training program for working actors from all across Europe. Silverberg also serves as a faculty member for the International Institute of the Performing Arts (Paris, France). He has served as a guest master teacher, artist and keynote speaker at engagements throughout Europe, including the Munich Film Academy (Munich, Germany); FAAP University (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Interkunst (Berlin, Germany). Silverberg founded and served as artistic director for the Meisner Studio (New York City, N.Y.) and Belltown Theatre Center (Seattle, Wash.). He has taught at the New World School of the Arts (Miami, Fla.); Coconut Grove Playhouse Conservatory (Miami, Fla.); and the University of Washington (Seattle, Wash.). Larry was also the Master Teacher of Acting and Full Professor at renowned Shenandoah University Conservatory of the Arts.
Kimon Fioretos
Born in Sweden in 1978.
Kimon is an acting teacher, acting coach, actor, writer, director and play translator.
He trained as an actor at the prestigious Art Theater of Athens Karolos Koun, professional acting school. He also graduated from the Demidov school of Theatre (Under Prof.
Andrei Malaev Babel.)
He augmented his knowledge at the year long experimental lab for actors and directors of the National Theater of Greece next to teachers from GITIS.
During his 20 year acting career he has collaborated with known Greek directors both in theater, film, television and tvc's.
He Kept returning to the US (2008-2018) studying as an actor and a teacher next to great American teachers while concentrating on the Meisner technique. He was certified as a Meisner technique teacher by the world renowned master teacher of the technique Larry Silverberg.
He worked as an Acting Tutor at the Art theater of Athens for 12 years. He now keeps his own private studio as a private coach and has collaborated with different drama schools and studios.
Kimon is passionate about the use and teaching of Meisner technique and the Michael Chekhov technique.
He contributed as a writer with his essays in the book "Michael Chekhov and Sanford Meisner: Collisions and Convergence in Actor Training" edited by Anjalee Deshpande Hutchinson published by Routledge (21 July 2020).
Kimon is also the artistic director of S.A.M, the first life long learning studio in Greece for professional actors.
